CYNTHIA SAX celebrates the premiere of STAR TREK! #Snarktember 8th! @CynthiaSax #Giveaways!

Let’s ‘boldly go where no man has gone before.” On this day in 1966 (long before I was born), Star Trek premiered on U.S. television.

Star Trek is an inspiration to those of us who never get things right on the first try. The original pilot was rejected by NBC. The second pilot was accepted but ratings were so poor for the show, NBC threatened to cancel it during the second season. A letter writing campaign saved it…temporarily. It was canceled after the third season.

Reruns, however, gradually built a cult following for Star Trek. Today, it is a multi-billion dollar industry. It has inspired many modern inventions including handheld mobile phones. Star Trek was also one of the first shows to feature a multicultural cast.

As a SciFi erotic romance writer, Star Trek has certainly changed my life.

Releasing Rage, my latest release, is a sizzling hot cyborg SciFi erotic romance. I suspect many of my reading buddies have watched at least one episode of Star Trek. When I picture the battle station in Releasing Rage, I view the Enterprise with some tweaks. It’s impossible to write about cyborgs and not think about the Borg (though my cyborgs are much more human and hunky – Rage, the hero of Releasing Rage, is completely lickable).

Releasing Rage faced some stumbling blocks on the way to publication also. I originally pitched the idea to my agent. She didn’t think she could sell it. I tweaked the premise. There was still no interest in a spicy cyborg romance.

I tried to walk away from the idea. I couldn’t. The story had grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go. My gut said I’d regret it if I didn’t write it.

So I wrote it and I knew, when I finished the first draft, that it was one of those magical stories writers are gifted from time to time. Releasing Rage is different, edgy, dark, emotion filled. Some reviewers have already read it three times.

I’m glad I persisted with Releasing Rage and I’m glad Gene Roddenberry persisted with Star Trek.

Half Man. Half Machine. All Hers.

Rage, the Humanoid Alliance’s most primitive cyborg, has two goals—kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that’s all he’s been programmed to experience.

Until he meets Joan.

Joan, the battle station’s first female engineer, has one goal—survive long enough to help the big sexy cyborg plotting to kill her. Rage might not trust her but he wants her. She sees the passion in his eyes, the caring in his battle-worn hands, the gruff emotion in his voice.

When Joan survives the unthinkable, Rage’s priorities are tested. Is there enough room in this cyborg’s heart for both love and revenge?

  • I was married for 12 years before we got lucky enough to have kids. We tried everything we could and had so much testing done, but it was finally job changes for both of us that did it. Today we have 2 beautiful kids.

  • I am one of those people that believe you should try everything once, unless of course it may kill you. Since I follow this, I have done lots of things many times to get them right. This is how I know I still don’t like sweet potatoes, don’t look good as a blonde and life is hard but exciting if you let it be. Also, I hate any amusment park ride that drops you straight down from large heights, those are the worst.

  • I’ve read RELEASING RAGE and holy hotness, Batman, it’s a burner! Don’t miss this one!
